Summary
Concrete designer and artisan Brandon Gore asked me to develop the brand for Kodiak Pro, including iconography and custom typography. The project focused on creating a visual identity for his new line of concrete mixes and additives. Known for his success in commercial and retail product lines, Gore’s “Hard Goods” furniture carries a premium modern aesthetic. The Kodiak Pro brand needed to reflect that refined modernism while retaining an earthy, grounded quality—heavy and impactful, yet clean and precise.
Project Overview
Developed a cohesive brand from concept to final production. Handled sketching, ideation, client presentations, project management, vector illustration, and refinement of iconography and logotype. Provided Packaging and labeling concepts and working art files.
Key Goals
Differentiate the brand, expand distribution, and align visual design with the product’s premium quality. Ensure harmony with sister brands Hard Goods and Concrete Design School.
Concepts
The bear, representing the maker’s spirit, was a key requirement. The visual approach emphasized a clean, modern aesthetic with bold, impactful graphics. Multiple designs were considered through the working process.
Production
Technical execution was as important as concept development and creative direction.
Results
The brand stands out in a crowded industry, capturing the maker ethos and Brandon’s refined aesthetic.
Insights
While I enjoy being hands-on throughout the entire design process, collaboration is often essential. I’m pleased with how the packaging designer translated the brand, and I remain available to support ongoing marketing and brand development.
